Nokia 8 India Launch Today With 6GB RAM and 128GB Built-in Storage

Nokia 8, the flagship smartphone from the house of HMD Global, is set to launch in India on Tuesday at an event in New Delhi. While the launch event kicks off at 11:30 am IST, the Nokia 8 has been listed on Amazon just hours ahead of the unveiling. With the listing, the Nokia 8 price in India has been revealed and appears to confirm that the smartphone will be exclusive to Amazon in the country. The listing currently points users to a 'Notify Me' page. Of course, the biggest selling point of the Nokia 8 is the 'bothies' feature, which lets users take videos and photos from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.



Touted as the "first true flagship Nokia," the Nokia 8 can be seen as direct competition to the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8. The smartphone can be expected to go on sale in early October, in line with the timeline shared by an HMD Global representative at the time of the Nokia 8's launch in London last month.

Nokia 8 price in India is Rs. 36,999, the Amazon listing reveals. Notably, it appears HMD Global is bringing the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant to India, with no mention of the recently spotted 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant at the moment.

The Nokia 8 sports a unibody design and has been built out of 6000-series aluminum. It was launched in glossy Polished Copper and Polished Blue colors, as well as matte Tempered Blue and Steel, finish. The Nokia 8 is IP54 rated, which means it is splash-proof.

The Nokia 8 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, with a promise to update to Android 8.0 Oreo. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. Thee Nokia 8 features a 5.3-inch 2K LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

It sports two 13-megapixel cameras with RGB and monochrome sensors, developed in partnership with Carl Zeiss.  The front camera is the same 13-megapixel RGB shooter seen on the rear, and both front and rear cameras are capable of recording 4K video on their own.  The rear camera comes with laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash.

The Nokia 8 comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD cards (up to 256GB). It is powered by a 3090mAh battery. The smartphone features 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
